Bitcoin Holds the Line
Bitcoin has spent the past week grinding higher within its range. While the move may appear uneventful, it carries an important signal: the zone that acted as resistance earlier this year now seems to be flipping into support.
Notably, BTC has yet to retest the 200-day simple moving average (SMA), currently sitting near $102,000. As long as price remains above this key long-term level, the broader structure stays intact and there’s little cause for concern.
Corporate Bitcoin Treasuries Cross 1 Million BTC
A major milestone has been reached: the top 100 publicly traded companies with Bitcoin treasuries now collectively hold just over 1,000,000 BTC on their balance sheets. This marks a clear sign of the growing institutionalization of Bitcoin strategies at the corporate level.
However, data from Capriole Investments shows a split story in 2025. In the first half of this year companies engaged in aggressive Bitcoin accumulation. But since the start of H2 2025 momentum has slowed. While firms are still adding Bitcoin, the pace of new corporate entrants has collapsed compared to earlier in the year. Even with more purchase transactions, companies are buying smaller amounts per deal. Strategy added just 3.7K BTC in August compared to 134K BTC per month at its peak.
This raises important questions: Are institutions exhausted after a wave of early-year accumulation? Or is this just a temporary dip before the next wave, potentially triggered by rising Bitcoin prices? For miners, investors, and treasury managers alike, the trajectory of corporate adoption is a signal worth watching. If the next wave of balance sheet buyers emerges, demand-side support could amplify Bitcoin’s next major leg up.
American Bitcoin ($ABTC) Makes a Volatile Market Debut
American Bitcoin (Nasdaq: $ABTC), the mining company backed by Eric and Donald Trump Jr., officially entered the public markets last week through a stock-for-stock merger with Gryphon Digital Mining (GRYP). The deal combines Gryphon’s proprietary mining capacity with American Bitcoin’s infrastructure footprint, creating a new entrant in the public mining space with both scale and strong political visibility.
The market reaction was immediate and intense. Shares spiked as much as 100%, hitting $14.00 compared with Gryphon’s prior close of $6.90. The frenzy triggered multiple halts within the first 90 minutes of market open, with pauses at 9:55, 10:09, 10:20, and 10:40 AM ET. By late morning gains cooled to +43%, but trading momentum remained high. Currently ABTC is trading at $8.07, up 17% since its debut.
This debut illustrates two key dynamics. Wall Street appetite for mining equities is still alive, especially when tied to high-profile backers and narratives beyond pure hashrate. For mining executives and investors alike, ABTC’s debut is a reminder that public listings can generate strong visibility but also expose miners to the full force of market swings.
Bitcoin Mining Stock Index Outperforms BTC
The Bitcoin Mining Stock Composite Index, developed by the team at BitcoinMiningStock.io, offers a comprehensive benchmark for tracking the performance of publicly traded Bitcoin mining companies in the U.S.
This index provides a clear way to measure how mining equities stack up against Bitcoin itself. It covers all U.S.-listed Bitcoin mining companies—excluding those on OTC markets—and represents roughly 82% of global Bitcoin mining stock capitalization.
Over the past three months, the index shows that listed miners have outpaced Bitcoin both in valuation and in the speed of that growth. This signals that equity markets are assigning an increasing premium to mining businesses, reflecting not only the underlying Bitcoin price but also investor expectations for scaling, efficiency, and capital inflows into the sector.
Bitcoin Enters the Zetahash Era, Depending on Who You Ask
Bitcoin’s network hashrate is brushing against the symbolic 1 zetahash per second (ZH/s) milestone, but not every analytics platform agrees on the timing. Blockchain.com and Hashrate Index recently reported the 7-day moving average (7 DMA) crossing the threshold, while others like Lincoin Lens and Mempool.space still place the average just below it.
The difference comes down to methodology. Hashrate Index calculates its averages using a strict trailing simple moving average (SMA) of the last 1,008 blocks a 7-day window. Other platforms may apply different smoothing techniques, such as centered or weighted averages, which respond differently to short-term variance in block times. Add in the randomness of block discovery and subtle rounding differences, and one chart can declare the zetahash era days earlier than another.
Whichever dataset you use, the message is the same: Bitcoin’s computational power has entered a new era of scale. The zetahash future is no longer theoretical, it’s here.
Bitcoin Mining Difficulty Hits New All-Time High
Bitcoin’s mining difficulty has once again climbed to a record level, reaching 136.04T. The steady rise highlights increased miner activity and growing competition across the network.
The last downward adjustment occurred on June 2th, when difficulty dropped to 7.48%. Since then, we’ve seen five consecutive upward adjustments. Year-to-date, difficulty has risen by 26.26T (+23.9%), with a monthly average increase of +2.99%, slightly below the 2024 pace. Compared with the same period last year, difficulty growth is nearly identical at +24.2%. While difficulty appeared to underperform in H1 2025, the recent streak of upward adjustments shows the network is now catching up to 2024’s trendline.
